SPOTLIGHT ON NEGLECTED CRISES
The NCP wishes to strengthen the ability of delegates to move from reactivity to proactivity, and by giving them the necessary tools, to better inform their respective Member States policies and relevant Council conclusions.
Stakeholders
Member State representatives across all geographical, humanitarian and development working parties.
BREAK SILO’S
The Neglected Crises Platform aims to bring a safe space for joint discussions between humanitarian and non-humanitarian Council delegates, beyond existing silos.
Stakeholders
Member State representatives across all geographical, humanitarian and development working parties.
Workplan
Addressing the critical humanitarian consequences stemming from the neglect of crises, the Neglected Crises Platform invites Member State representatives across relevant Council Working Parties with the objective to trigger discussions about the humanitarian challenges we perceive in the operationalization of the triple nexus, humanitarian access, localization, conflict and hunger, or climate adaptation.
The Neglected Crises Platform Workplan is designed to foster collaboration and information exchange among Council delegates. Concretely, a Neglected Crises Platform Secretariat is operated by the Norwegian Refugee Council, supported by an Advisory Group composed of EU Representatives from humanitarian operators (UN agencies and INGOs).
The NCP Secretariat
The Secretariat has the overall responsibility for selecting among the neglected crises those of particular concern and in urgent need of revived political attention among Member States. It leads on the identification of crises that should be discussed in the framework of the Neglected Crises Platform based on the recommendations of the Advisory Group.
The Advisory group
The Advisory Group consists of a selection of EU Representatives of humanitarian operators: UN agencies and INGOs and operates as a sounding board to ensure the reflection of the diversity of views on priorities crises and themes. By sharing views and analyses on areas of work that require more attention at EU level, the Advisory Group acts as a crucial actor to maximise relevance of the NCP.
